for the uninitiated, this picture is of Siesta Key Beach. It is consistently rated in the top 5 beaches in the WORLD! The sand is 99% silica, and thereore the sand never gets hot. It is one of the few beaches like this in the world. The consisency of the sand is like baby powder. The beach is about 100 yards wide, and there are many public accesses. In the summer the water approaches 90 degrees and is a beautiful turquoise color. Truly a wonder and a great vacation destination.
